William Steven Byrd, 60, of Millington passed away September 23, 2019. He raced sprint cars in his younger days and spent many days hunting deer and squirrels. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes with his friends, grilling for everyone, and having everyone over for cornhole. Steve, as his family and friends called him, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He dearly loved his daughters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and they adored him. His grandchildren were his whole world. Steve is survived by his wife, Julie (Davis) Byrd of Millington, TN; daughters, Jennifer (Ted) Goodrich of Olive Branch, MS and Erica (Mike) Higginbotham of Collierville, TN; sisters, Paula (Ed) Korber of Coldwater, MS, Sandy (Joe) Harding and Kathy (Greg) King both of Millington, TN; grandchildren, Kamrin Mabry, Brayden Dykes, Riley and Zachary Higginbotham; and several nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Madeline Byrd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Munford Funeral Home Millington Chapel to help the family with the funeral expenses. The family will receive friends Sunday (Oct 6) from 11am until the service at 2:00pm at the Millington Chapel. Interment to follow in Quito Memorial Cemetery.Read Obituary

They were all like my family back when I worked for them in the late 80's and 90's. Oh all the races we went to! Hammer down on that 26R Sprint car and Fly High Rooster. Your family is in my prayers. Denise Davis
I loved my brother in law 3wheeler riding in the bottoms was my best of times with him Big Harold
I remember Steve well . Mostly when he was a little boy who wanted to race cars . I remember him and his Dad working on stock cars . He was a very sweet boy and I loved him like a little brother . Hug mom and dad for me and Rest In Peace my friend .
I got the chance to meet Steve this year at our neighborhood gas station at end of Watkins a friend of mine and him were there and invited me to there place for a cold one and hanging out a very nice guy right off. I work right down the road from them and everyday after I get off driving by they always would have friends and family over playing horse shoes having a fire just making good memories. So sad to see this, sending lots of prayers

I had the pleasure of growing up with the Byrd family. Most of my memories of Steve and his family are all of us at his parents house with Pig in the ground cookouts, fish frys and then Racing at Riverside. He will be remembered with love always. Kiss your Momma and Daddy for me fly high brother.
Steve was a wonderful brother and I will miss him dearly.
