Peggy Adkins Ballard

Mrs. Peggy Adkins Ballard, age 70, died at her home, surrounded by loved ones, Thursday, January 25, 2018.Peggy was born March 11, 1947, in Gilt Edge, Tennessee to Clifford and Ruby Adkins. She graduated from Munford High School in 1965, and attended banking school where she worked as Vice President of Union Planters Bank.On June 18, 1965, she married Robert Wayne Ballard in Burlison, Tennessee. They were married for 38 years. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2003.Peggy lived a life filled with acts of true kindness, caring and generosity to her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her selfless acts and giving heart.In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her father, Clifford Franklin Adkins, her brother, Larry Franklin Adkins and father-in-law, E.J. Ballard.Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Ballard Wilson and husband Jimmy, of Drummonds, and Margaret Ballard Duffy, and husband Pat, of Bartlett; her mother, Ruby Elizabeth Adkins, of Gilt Edge; a sister, Emily Darlene McKee, and husband, Jim of Millington; mother-in-law, Lula Mae Ballard, of Munford; four grandchildren, Lindsey Wilson Tate, and husband, Aaron, of Drummonds, Katie Wilson McLellan, and husband, Hunter, of Drummonds, Haley Mae Wilson, of Drummonds and Ryan Wagner Duffy, of Bartlett.The family would like to thank Kathy McClain for her loving care and friendship during Peggy’s illness.Services will be Sunday, January 28, at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at Munford Funeral Home, with Brother Mike Laxton officiating. Burial will be in Helen Crigger Cemetery, Atoka.Memorials may be made to New Salem Methodist Church, 7808 Munford Giltedge Rd.
