PATRICIA JEAN DENHAM SWEATPatricia “Patsy” Jean Denham Sweat, 84, of Bartlett, TN, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Mother’s Day, May 10th, 2020 in Memphis, TN. Born in Moultrie, GA to Emmett William and Carrie West Denham, she was blessed with a loving home with many brothers and sisters. She met her one true and lifelong love Arthur in Valdosta, GA where they were married June 7, 1952, and Arthur joined the United States Navy. She thrived as a military wife and their family enjoyed many rich and fulfilling experiences living all over the country. She spent most of her life in service to others, not just to her own family, but as a beloved Nanny and Housekeeper to many, once her own children married and left home. She spent most of her adult life as a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and embraced her role “to make disciples of people of all the nations”. She was an avid music fan, especially Bluegrass, could play the guitar, loved books and history of all kinds, genealogy, and was a life-long learner.Patricia is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Dr. Arthur J. Sweat, Lt. USN, as well as her precious daughter Abbe Jane (Randy) Jackson, and all but one of her siblings, brothers Leroy Denham, Allen Denham, John Denham, Charlie Nix (Thelma) Denham, Arlie Donald Denham, Everett Eddie Denham, Emmett James Denham, Joseph Denham, Amos (Shirley) Denham, Bobby (Carol) Denham and Bradford (Karen) Denham as well as sisters Lillie Mae Denham Newsome, Mary Sue Denham Swain, and Bernice Denham Cowart Ross.Left to honor her cherished memory is her deeply loved sister, Janice (Billy) Mullis, her other four children, Thomas Jerome Sweat of Saulsbury, TN, William Dutch (Doris) Sweat of Cabool, MO, Rachel Ellen (Eric) McClung of Bon Aqua, TN, and Christopher Denham (Debra) Sweat of Memphis, TN. Pat also enjoyed the great love and pride that comes with her eight Grandchildren, Carrie (Corey) Milsted, Wesley Jackson, Bonnie (Alejandro) Cabrera, Sunnye (Aaron) Donnelly, Natalye Hanna, Rebecca (Nicholas) Bussey, Victoria Sweat, and Christopher Sweat Jr., six Great Grandchildren Autumn (Johnathan) Chwaliszewski, Summer Poe (Blake Coggin), Lilly Hanna, Lily Bussey, Skye Cabrera, and Serenity Benson, two Great Great Grandchildren Osiris and Ember Coggin, as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews, including Mark (Ann) Newsome with whom she shared a very close bond.Services are being graciously provided by Munford Funeral Home 7450 Raleigh Millington Rd. Millington, TN 38053. In-person services are not being held at this time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
