Covington, TNMary Ellen Shannon Christy, 83, Covington Care Nursing Home, Covington, TN, formerly a resident of Beaver County, had a peaceful end to life on earth and beginning of new life in Heaven, on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.She was born in Aliquippa, PA, on February 4, 1934, the daughter of the late James and Ellen Shannon. Mary loved her God, family, friends, and dogs. Throughout her life, she touched many people as she moved from PA, to Chalmett, LA, and then to Memphis area, always with a great story to tell. She was a lifelong devout Roman Catholic, and once mobility declined, continued to receive regular visits from pastor and members of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Covington, TN.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Christy, daughter, Tammy Christy, and granddaughter, Teena Christy. She especially loved Chihuahuas, Tuffy, Dinky, and Kimba, and will look forward to having them all back in Heaven.She is survived by her loving sister, Margaret Ess, sons, James Christy and Patrick Christy, daughter, Candy Christy Kenny, eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.Visitation will be on Sunday, January 21, at the Munford Funeral Home, 1136 Tipton Rd. Munford, TN 38058, from 2-4 p.m., Central Time, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m., Central Time.A Catholic Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Monaca, PA, on Saturday, February 17, at 10 a.m., Eastern Time.
