Mary Evelyn Armstrong

Memphis, TnMary Evelyn Armstrong “Memaw” 68, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2020. She would have turned 69 on August 20, 2020. Evelyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Larry Armstrong; mother, Mary Edna Durham; father, Paul Newman; brother, Robert Newman (Starlet Newman); and her sister, Tena Gilbert (David Gilbert).Evelyn was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind one son and three daughters; Mark Dunn, Regina Hill (Tony Hill, deceased), Tracie Sharpe (Devon Robinson), Julie Robinson (Derrick Robinson), Erica Lewis (Courtney Lewis), Zac Hill, Timothy (Tim Tim) Sharpe, Adrian (AD) Sharpe, Caleb Sharpe (KK) and Trinity Lewis (Jade). She also leaves her grandchildren of the heart, Teva Blocker, Chloe Thomas, Xavier Blocker, and Terryon Blocker.And then there were three... Evelyn also leaves behind three sisters, Tonyia Stenson (Jason Stenson), Pam Huggins (Randy Huggins), Judy Williams (Carl Williams); and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly with her whole heart.Evelyn never met a stranger she wouldn’t feed or a baby she couldn’t calm. Her calming and soothing nature will be missed by all who knew her.We express our love and appreciation for our Mama and Memaw with these final words: "Memaw you have given so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us, for teaching us, listening to us, helping and forgiving us, loving us, and always, always paving the way for us.
