James Carl Miller, Jr., 66, of Millington, TN passed away on October 26, 2018. Carl was retired from Shelby County Fire Department and a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Miller; sons, Andrew James Miller of Arlington, TN and Christopher Reid Miller of Millington, TN; sister, Patricia Hughes of Millington, TN; granddaughter, Maci Claire Miller; nephews, Jimmy Hill and Todd Hill. The family will receive friends Tuesday (Oct 30) from 6:00pm – 8:00pm with a service Wednesday at 2:00pm at the Millington Chapel. Interment to follow in West Union Cemetery. Carl was a good friend and mentor, hade many years of working with him both at the fire station. also worked many years with him and Mr. miller on the farm. He was a great lt. and Assistant Chief. Thank you sir for your service to Shelby County. I remember many a busy shift at the old 3's, now Memphis Station 52. Binoculars on the watch desk, reindeer games, and other shenanigans. Fans in the bed hall sounding like a squadron of P-51 Mustangs. Everybody there worked and played hard. May God bless all of the surviving friends and family.

I agree with John Wright’s post. I remember all the guys teaching my 13 year old daughter to roller blade in the apparatus bay! It was awesome!! But when it came to work, we work and worked hard. Thank you, Sir for your service and the memories!!! God Bless!!
