Edna Sue Buhrmester

Edna Sue Buhrmester went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 23 after a short illness. She was 64. Edna lived in Atoka with her loving husband Paul G. Buhrmester and her dog, Bella. Edna was born and raised in Millington. She graduated from Millington High School. She was a member of the Ya Ya Sisters, a social club of friends, including her lifelong friend Vicki Mayhue. In her final days, Edna was gently cared for by her sister-in-law Betty Buhrmester. She was baptized at Temple United Methodist Church in Millington. Edna had a joyous spirit and exuberance for life. She loved people and cherished her family and friends and had a heart of gold. Edna was preceded in death by her mother J. Lydelle Vunkannon and father Ray J.W. Vunkannon both from Millington and brother, Billy R. Vunkannon of Milton, FL. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sisters Della R. Adams of Memphis, Elwanda M. Johnson of Lacey, WA and Reba D. Stinson of DeKalb, TX. She also leaves behind her stepchildren and their spouses Paul R. and Shannon Buhrmester and Daniel and Paige Buhrmester and grandchildren Nikki, Ashland and Teddy Buhrmester. Edna was a doting aunt to more than a dozen nieces and nephews including those she helped raise Peter G. Evans, the late William J. Evans, Margaret (Peggy) Wise and Katie Scarlett Stinson. Visitation is Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Munford Funeral Home, Millington Chapel in Millington, TN. The funeral is immediately following.
