Denise Miles Gilmartn

Denise Miles Gilmartin of Rosemark, TN went home to be with our Lord on June 10, 2019, at the age of 79 after a 12 year battle with cancer. A loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Vincent Gilmartin. Denise and Tom started their family in Queens, NY, and also made homes in Raleigh, NC, Massapequa, NY, Germantown, TN, Lakeland, FL and Rosemark, TN.Denise was born on October 3, 1939, to the late James Miles and Marie Riordan Miles in Jackson Heights, NY. She attended St. Joseph Catholic High School in Brooklyn, NY.She worked tirelessly throughout her career to help support her family, including many years at The Germantown News, but by far her favorite position was that of teacher at St. George's Episcopal Church Preschool in Germantown, TN. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family, most importantly her three grandchildren.Left behind with fondest memories are her husband, Tom, her daughter, Suzanne Gilmartin Davidson (husband, Mark), her son, Bradley Thomas Gilmartin and her sister Claire Miles Modico. Grandchildren Allison Marie Davidson, Emma Katherine Davidson and Victoria Gail Davidson will miss her dearly. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, James Miles.Family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, June 20th, 2019, between 1:30 - 3:00pm, and the service will convene immediately following at 3:00 pm at Rosemark First Presbyterian Church, 8592 E. Kerr-Rosemark Rd. Millington, TN 38053.The family asks in lieu of flowers a donation be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of Denise.Read Obituary
