Richard Wilson Phillips of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully. surrounded by those he loved on May 25, 2018 at NHC Somerville. He was born October 5, 1922 to James and Ethel Phillips of Wartrace, TN. Richard was predeceased by all of his siblings and wife of 72 years, Noriene Phillips. R.W. is survived by his sons, Jim V. Phillips and Dale L. Phillips; daughter-in-law, Martha E. Phillips and grandchildren, Jessica L. Phillips, James E. Phillips, and James R. Phillips. Richard led an illustrious 30 year Naval career that spanned three wars, retired Navy as a CWO-4. Achieved Professor Emaritis after retiring from State Technical Institute in Memphis, TN. He was a life member of Bartlett Masonic Lodge 211, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Grand Lodge of Scotland and The Al Chymia Shrine. The family would like to thank NHC Somerville for the love and care that they provided Mr. Phillips and his wife.The family received friends from 12-2 p.m., with Services following at 2 p.m., Monday, May 28, all at the Millington Chapel.
